Topology optimization of CFRP hierarchical pyramidal structures fabricated by additive manufacturing

The optimal structural hierarchy was introduced into the conventional pyramidal structure by integrating homogenization-based topology optimization (HMTO) with elastically isotropic elementary lattices for further improvement of efficiency. mechanical properties and elastic isotropy representative truss–lattices composed struts plate–lattices consisting closed-cell sheets were firstly evaluated, based on which equivalent out-of-plane compression modulus hierarchical theoretically analysed then compared experimental numerical results to systematically clarify effects lattice performance. Furthermore, exhibiting efficiency integrated HMTO optimize including stiffness energy absorption capability. achieves 4.8% 28.2% higher compressive over unoptimized structure, respectively. capability optimized structures is 63.4% 27.2% than that without hierarchy, obtained from this study indicate via integration SC–FCC plate–lattice can effectively improve structures.
